YOOFOOO! I'M FINALLY BACK!
OBS was a living hell. haha, actually ain't that bad.
MY GROUP IS COLUMBUS! and it consisted of dunearn: danial,peishi,carol,boonling,zulkifi,matthew, asraf and me.
queenstown:gabriel,felicia,tammy,mildred,junhao and johannes.
ghim moh:joe and sherlyn.
our beloved instructors:lishan and andy!
first day:
was horribly terribly bad. my eye was sore due to contact lens and we only did trust fall and capsize drill, but it was Cat 1 and we had to end it. the seaweeds and mud was gross! our legs will sink into the bloody mud! totally gross. carol and i got stucked a couple of times.
we were given a small journal-like thing and andy wanted us to write our feelings in it. i almost cried. i really missed everything! and all i wanted was to be alone.
had rice for dinner, i think they were cooking porridge! but glad it was edible.
and due to the rain at night, we did not pitch tents and all the watches slept in a shelter. i was so glad that i could sleep with jieying!
second day:
high element, climbed a rock wall without rocks ,it was practically flat with only few concave holes on it.we were asked to write our expectations for ourselves, i aimed for the first platform but i reached the second platform! i almost gave up cause i slipped a few times but lishan told me to find a way to get up there and i did it!this proved that sometimes we are actually better than who we are and as long as we have the will to do something, we can!
we went on our trekking afterwards. the backpack weighed a ton! it was SO heavy LA! i actually hunched!
i'm not sure how long did we travel but it was long.
we walked to OBS campsite, which is by the sea and it's surrounded by bushes. and the toilets were so cool~. an open area with only rocks and nothing!that's our toilet! can you imagine?! and obviously, we rather hold our bladder to pee in that so-called toilet!
some of us pitched the tents and some cooked, instant noodles! :)
spent the night in the wild.
third day:
continue to trek, travel a long distance to OBS camp 1. and we had to find the "treasure" along the way. it's a yellow tag with words of wisdom on it! meaningful! they were something like: we are like teabags, we will only know our power when we are in hot water. life is an adventure or nothing. and the ways of how things are going are not in our control but the ways we choose to handle them are in our hands.
zul and i were the navigators for the fifth and last checkpoint which was camp 1! and basically we didn't know how to read maps and compass. but andy told us not to be nervous and with the help of junhao and others, we reached camp 1.
pitched tents, BATH and we didn't have to cook ourselves! there's food catering! YUM! and we sat in 'heaven' and we talked about BUBBLES hur. hahaha. and SKIN CUTTING SESSION.such a pervertic bunch.
packed our bags for kayaking on the next day. we had to kayak back from camp 1 to camp 2. it was near, but we had to travel one big round! and it took us 7 hours, but it was excellent! we actually expected to reach camp 2 by 7p.m or worse, 9p.m! but we reached at 4p.m even though we were a hour late when setting off.
all of us turned in early.
fourth day:
we joined up with watch CHENG HO.
my kayaking partner was danial. we made a good pair alright! skilled! :D
it was fun fun fun and fun! instructors had told us to bring oranges with us,in case we have seasick and when we passed by gabriel and tammy, i saw one thing sticking out of gabriel's nose and i asked him wth is that! he said it's orange skin as he's feeling nauseous, his nostrils are huge man! hahaha.
and if we want to do our businesses, we gotta do it in the sea. no matter small or big business!
so peeps! do your business before you set off!
cleaned our pfd,ponchos, kayaks and bath and cooked. had a sumptuous dinner as it's the last night!
went for our nightwalk after dinner. we walked in a single file in the jungle at first, with our torchlight off! and when we were out of the the creepy place, instructor kenny said the fun has just begun! we had to walk ALONE and back to our campsite. it was really a heart-thumping experience.
well, i was the first girl! yuhao went first followed by keane( not sure of his spelling), and then me! my hands went numb, but i gotta move on cause i have to challange myself and i don't wanna give in to my fears. so i continue no matter how scary it was and i spoke to God along the way.
keane told yuhao the next person will be a girl cause he claimed that he heard someone screamed, and when i got out, he asked me whether did i scream and keane, i'm sorry to say that I DIDN'T! hahaha. don't worry boy, i bet your mind's tricking you! :)
it's satisfactory to know that you overcame your fear!
something funny happened. gabriel went before asraf and asraf actually caught up with gabriel and here's their conversation:
asraf: why you walk so slow?
gabriel: i want to see pontianak.
gabriel never failed to make me laugh my heart out.
we met andy after the walk and he told us story again! i love his stories, they are meaningful..
we went to sleep and wait for the next day to come!
fifth day/last day/today:
cleared up our stores and found we lost alot of things and we had to pay for them. stupid arse, who took our tentbag! but matt's right, nothing's fair, so what to do?
and waited for our ferry to bring us back to singapore!
went P.S with jieying, lynn,alan ang,victor,sean,karol,peiqi,siewyee,hariz and aliff to have our lunch! it was like as if they had went to ubin for 5 years la! KFC seemed so heavenly to them.
then bus home!
i bet andy's gonna miss us!
and my mommy and sister were happy to see me back! i can tell that though they pretended that they don't miss me! wahaha!
daddy was so cool when he saw me, didn't even care to smile at me, but i know he missed me most! hahaha!
off to KL on sunday! gonna miss home again.. ):
and i want yuhong to gooooooooooooooooo..
